The Leonida Keys are where GTA 6’s story network starts. This tropical island chain, joined by long over-water highways, is home turf for Jason Duval and the people around him. Jason’s own line about life here says it all: “Another day in paradise, right?”

What is confirmed

  • Jason works for local drug runners in the Keys.
  • Brian Heder, a drug runner from the golden age of smuggling in the Keys, still moves product through his boat yard with his third wife, Lori.
  • Brian lets Jason live rent-free at one of his properties in exchange for help with local shakedowns.
  • Cal Hampton, Jason’s friend, spends his time at home listening in on Coast Guard communications.
  • The region includes marinas, islands and long bridges.

Low tide of America

Rockstar describes Cal as being “at the low tide of America and happy there,” and that phrase works for the whole region. The Keys are slow, sunny and a little paranoid, built around boats, bars and the long shadow of smuggling. That makes them a sharp contrast to the towers and nightlife of Vice City, and it explains why Jason starts the game wondering whether it is time to try something new.

Evidence and limits

Rockstar’s media page lists six Leonida Keys screenshots, and the character profiles of Jason, Brian and Cal tie them to the region. Rockstar has not published an island list, a full road map, or details of fishing and boating. Fan map reconstructions can estimate the geography, but they are not official data.

Quick answers
