Cal Hampton is Jason Duval‘s friend and a fellow associate of Brian Heder. Where Jason wants something bigger, Cal is perfectly happy staying home with a few beers, the Coast Guard radio, and some private browser tabs open.
Confirmed details
- Friend of Jason Duval.
- An associate of Brian Heder, like Jason.
- Listens in on Coast Guard communications from home.
- Lives with what Rockstar calls casual paranoia, fed by the internet.
The conspiracy guy of the Keys
Rockstar’s profile opens with Cal asking what would happen if everything on the internet was true, and his quotes follow the same track: too many birds flying in perfect formation, psychopaths running things, get used to it. The official description says Cal is at the low tide of America and happy there. It is a sharp, funny sketch of a familiar type, and it lands harder because the people around him really are doing shady things.
Connection to the wider cast
Cal links Jason’s personal life to Brian Heder’s smuggling operation. His habit of monitoring Coast Guard traffic is more than a character joke: it puts him close to information that could matter to people moving contraband through the Leonida Keys. Rockstar also sets up a clear contrast. Casual paranoia loves company, but Jason has bigger plans, and those plans now include Lucia Caminos.
What remains unconfirmed
Cal has a dedicated profile and four official screenshots, but Rockstar has not identified him as a playable character or described any mission mechanics attached to his radio monitoring. His exact role after Jason and Lucia leave the Keys is still unknown, so claims that he acts as a permanent mission handler remain speculation.
