GTA 6: Everything We Know (Updated July 2026)
Last updated: July 3, 2026. We update this hub every time Rockstar confirms something new — bookmark it.
Grand Theft Auto VI launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. That’s 139 days from today. This page is the master index of everything confirmed so far — with links to our deep dives on every topic. No rumors presented as facts, no recycled leaks: if it’s here, Rockstar said it or showed it.
The essentials in 30 seconds
- Release date: November 19, 2026 — confirmed by Rockstar after the second delay
- Platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. No PS4 or Xbox One, and PC comes later
- Price: $79.99 Standard, $99.99 Ultimate — full edition comparison

- Protagonists: Jason and Lucia — the series’ first playable duo with a shared story
Release: date, time and preload
After moving from fall 2025 to May 2026 and finally to November 19, 2026, Rockstar has held this date firm through 2026 — and every signal (marketing ramp-up, retailer activity, the ESRB rating) points to it sticking. Here’s what to read:
- GTA 6 Release Date: the full story of both delays
- Exact release time in every US time zone — when servers actually unlock
- Preload guide — expected preload window and how to be ready
- File size — how many GB to free up before November
- The complete October–November launch checklist
Where to buy and which edition
Two editions exist: Standard ($69.99) and Ultimate ($99.99). The only pre-order bonus announced so far is the Vintage Vice City Pack. Before you commit:

Platforms and hardware
GTA 6 is a true current-gen exclusive. If your hardware is from 2013–2016, this is the game that finally forces the upgrade:
- Why there’s no PS4/Xbox One version — and your cheapest paths forward
- PS5 vs Xbox Series X — which plays it better
- PS5 vs PS5 Pro — is the Pro upgrade worth it before November?
- Best SSD upgrades — because a digital-only 100+ GB game eats storage
- The realistic PC release window, based on 15 years of Rockstar history
The game itself
Leonida is Rockstar’s biggest and densest map ever, and the trailers point to the most systemic GTA to date:
- The map: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Mount Kalaga and every confirmed region
- Jason and Lucia — everything we know about the duo
- The chapter-based story structure and why it changes everything
- Every confirmed new feature: fishing, classic cars, gang compounds and more
- The weapon system: limited loadouts and the RDR2 DNA
- GTA 6 vs GTA 5 — the 12 biggest changes, thirteen years later
- Vice City then and now — how the 2002 classic maps onto 2026
GTA 6 Online
Rockstar hasn’t fully unveiled the next Online yet — but the shape of it is visible in job listings, GTA Online’s wind-down pattern and Take-Two’s investor language. Here’s everything we actually know about multiplayer, including the realistic launch window for the online mode.
For parents
It’s rated M (17+), it’s the most realistic GTA ever, and your kid has been asking about it for three years. Our Parents’ Guide covers the rating, the content, and the conversations worth having before November.
What’s still unknown
Being honest about the gaps is half this site’s job. As of July 2026, Rockstar has not confirmed: the exact preload date, the full soundtrack and radio lineup, GTA 6 Online’s launch structure, PS5 Pro-specific enhancements, and any post-launch content plans. When any of these drop, this page and the linked guides get updated the same day.
