Rockstar says preload opens at local midnight on November 12. That means the preload window follows the region attached to your platform account. It is not one simultaneous worldwide start.

PlayStation codes must match the region of the PlayStation account. Rockstar says Xbox codes are not region locked, but buying from the correct regional retailer is still the safest route.

How to preload GTA 6 on PS5

1. Preorder GTA 6 from PlayStation Store, or redeem the code from a physical Standard Edition box when it arrives.
2. Open Game Library and select Grand Theft Auto VI.
3. Enable automatic downloads in Settings under Saved Data and Game/App Settings.
4. Leave the console connected to the internet. Rest Mode can download updates when the correct power-saving options are enabled.
5. On November 12, check the download queue instead of assuming the preload started automatically.

What physical buyers need to know

The physical Standard Edition has a code in the box and no disc. Rockstar says it becomes available for shipping and pickup from November 12 to support preloading. Your actual start time depends on when the retailer delivers the code.

There is no physical Ultimate Edition. A physical Standard Edition owner can buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade from the PlayStation or Xbox store after redeeming the game code.
